We went to the NICU reunion on Saturday and got to see all the doctors and nurses that took care of Lila and Zella during that very, very long first month. On Sunday, after church, Grandma and Grandpa Shaw brought us lunch and watched the girls while we painted their new playroom. We painted it a dusty/aqua blue. We love it, it is amazing what a big difference a little color can make.
The girls are now 8 months old! They are just so amazing to us and we feel so blessed that God has entrusted us with these 2 awesome baby girls!

Mobile Babies
Lila is now crawling just as much as her sister. They are both sitting (and falling over) on their own.
We're noticing that Lila is more cautious than her sister, which might be why it takes her a few days longer to do the "big milestone" things than her sister. Lila will spend more time and think about what she is going to do before she does it. Zella, on the other hand, is a dare-devil; she'll "Just Do It." [tm] ;-)
Case in point, when Zella decided to crawl, she'd just start trying, and would manage two steps before she would fall. Lila seemed to analyze how to crawl (distance, wind velocity, etc.), and then started crawling four steps at a time before she would fall.
We're still working on baby-proofing. We're considering running bubble-wrap around all the walls, furniture, etc. :-) The thought crossed our mind after Zella's incident yesterday when she was crawling, tipped over, and hit the wall with her head. She cried, but was fine after a few minutes (more so than us).
We'll probably post more pictures after this weekend.

Wow! What a Day!
Today was a big milestone for both girls! Lila sat up by herself for the first time today! And Zella actually crawled forward several steps today! Zella sat up by herself for the first time last week. They both have been able to be put in a sitting position and remain for a little bit (before tipping over), but they now know how to get in the sitting position.
We are so proud, but now we -really- have to baby-proof the house. They are now -MOBILE-!!!

First Post (Yeah!)
It only took us 7 months to create a blog! Better late than never!
The girls are doing awesome! Zella is 16 lbs, and Lila is 14.5 lbs (-still- a pound and a half apart! I think I'm noticing a trend). They can both sit by themselves (briefly) and they are -almost- crawling. They rock on their knees and roll wherever they want to go. Sometimes they'll even crawl sideways like a crab (what a sight!). Zella has discovered her voice, and can be very loud! Lila is often content just watching her sister.
Everyone says that they are so cute and seem very alert and inquisitive, and our favorite comment is that they look like Gerber babies - is that a good or bad thing ;)
We love being parents, and they definitely keep us very busy (and they aren't even crawling yet!) No need to spend money on entertainment :) - not that we could anyways ;)
Thankfully, Mommy is still nursing so we aren't spending money on formula yet (just more food for Mommy), but we do go through at least 16 diapers a day (that's 112 a week, or 480 a month!). Thanks Grandma Shaw for helping here!
Special thanks to our family (including our church family) and friends! We love y'all, and we sincerely appreciate everything everyone has done for us!
Well, it is late, and the girls will be up in 5 hours, so Good Night and God Bless!
